Flower shop and garden center, creative blossoms (www.nycreativeblossoms.com) located at 370 Lewis Avenue at Macon Street in Stuyvesant Heights, Brooklyn celebrates its grand opening on Saturday March 28, 2009 from 2-7pm. Estelle Harris, owner/buyer and head floral designer, exclaims the event is part and parcel of the new beginnings along the Lewis Avenue corridor, “I am very excited and humbled by the positive feedback from the community. My initial idea to provide a uniquely positioned service has morphed into a personal commitment to being an integral member of the Lewis Avenue merchant community”.
Estelle envisions creative blossoms becoming a cornerstone and pillar of central Brooklyn as a whole and to that end, creative blossoms will bring together the gardening community in Stuyvesant Heights and act as a community center, both in-store and online (via a creative blossoms gardening blog), for Stuyvesant Heights gardeners.
creative blossoms has instituted a partnership with the BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger, a non-profit organization working vigorously to end hunger in the Bedford-Stuyvesant / Brownsville / Ocean Hill neighborhoods of Brooklyn. It’s mission is to end hunger by distributing food and empowering families through information and support, which will give both strength and dignity to the community. creative blossoms will work with the BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger through a Garden Harvest Give Back, in which the members of the creative blossoms gardening community donate a portion of its garden harvest to the BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger.
creative blossoms grand opening will feature a raffle and proceeds will go to supporting the BedStuy Campaign Against Hunger. The prizes include three floral arrangements and a gardening gift.
The day’s theme is a garden wedding and will celebrate the perfect merger of new beginnings, unique floral arrangements, springtime, and very special invited guests. The catering of the celebration will be provided by the BedStuy staple, Peaches, and the Fort Greene wine shop, Gnarly Vines.
